Medical assistants work under the control of department administrator.They perform administrative duties like answering telephones, greeting patients, and updating patient medical records. Medical assistants play significant role in the medical offices or clinical environments. However, they don’t make any independent decisions, about the diagnosis, treatment or emergency plan of patients. They are not allowed to perform independent practice.
This is a 26-week Sunday-only training for medical assistants. During the 160-hour theory classes on Sundays, the individual attends a 160-hours internship during week days. This program is nationally approved.
At the end of this program, the individual becomes eligible to sit for the national certification exams for the Medical Administrative Assistant, Clinical Medical Assistant (back office) as well as the exam for EKG Technicians. He/She finishes with three certifications! The cost for the program includes CPR, National Certification Exam fees, two sets of uniforms and textbooks. The Sunday-only student has to have flexible days within the week to complete her 160 hours clinical externship during the six-month program.
